Did you ever get confused with word like "puyo-puyo"during a Japanese conversation?

Puyo puyo is Giongo. It means wiggly movement, like jello.
Giongo are words that use to describe action or situation or even feelings using sound effects, similar to words like 'buzz', 'hiss'...etc

Giongo(ぎおんご/擬音語)=onomatopoeia is very common in conversation for Japanese,
though not many dictionaries explain it.... my friends said.

So, I'm trying to help people who studies Japanese and struggling with weird giongo.

Funya funya

Funya funya is used when things become soft and elastic.
(in many cases, those things are normally hard, but when those get
softened, it becomes funya funya)

ie)
Jp: Shinbun ga ame ni nurete FUNYA FUNYA da.
　しんぶんがあめにぬれてふにゃふにゃだ。
En: A newspaper got wet and soften by the rain.

Jp: Anoko no hanasi kata ha FUNYAFUNYA siteirune.
あのこのはなしかたはふにゃふにゃしているね。
En: The way she speaks is very soft.
(normally impression of Funya Funya talk is "not independent")

Chobi chobi

Chobi chobi is used when someone does/uses something a little by little, not to do/use whole thing in one time.
syn: chibi-chibi, chobo-chobo

Jp: Kono Godeiba no chokoreito ha totemo takai node CHOBI CHOBI tabeyou.
　このゴディバのチョコレートはとてもたかいので、ちょびちょびたべよう。
En: This Godiva's chocolate is very expensive, so eat it little by little.

Chika chika

Chika chika is used when someone is dazzled by strong light, picture etc.
It could also used when the light is blinking.(e.g. pedestrian light for crossing).

i.e)
Jp: kamera no furasshu de me ga CHIKA CHIKA shita.
　かめらのふらっしゅでめがチカチカした
En: I was dazzled by the camera's flash.

Jp: shingou ga CHIKA CHIKA shiteiruyo. isoge!
　しんごうがチカチカしてるよ。いそげ！
En: That light is blinking. Hurry up!

Bata bata

Bata bata is onomatopoeia for running sound, especially used when someone is in a hurry.

It could also used to describe the sound when things are flapping.
(e.g. flag is flapping when the wind is blowing etc...)

It could also used when people are swimming and they are kicking their feet.

i.e)
Jp: kanojo ha kyou ha isogashisouni BATA BATA siteiru ne.
　かのじょはきょうはいそがしそうにバタバタしているね。
En: She is running around noisily today. (she isn't actually running)

Jp: sentaku mono ga kaze de BATA BATA to yurete iru.
　せんたくものがかぜでばたばたとゆれている
En: Laundry is heavily swinging by wind.

Jiro jiro

Jiro jiro is used when someone is staring at someone/something for quite a long time.
usually someone who is being stared at feels uncomfortable.

i.e)
Jp: Ano ojisan ga zutto watashi wo JIRO JIRO miteimasu. Kimochiwarui!(or kimoi!)
　(あのおじさんがずっとわたしをじろじろみています。きもちわるい！)
En: That old man keeps staring at me. it's so creepy!

Kira Kira

Kira kira is onomatopoeia for glitter, sparkle light of gems, glass etc.

i.e)
Jp: kono nekkuresu wa totemo KIRA KIRA siteiru.
　(このネックレスはとてもきらきらしている)
En: This necklace is glittering.

Koro koro

Koro koro is onomatopoeia of rolling things.
also used as noun for a cleaning sticky paper tape.

i.e)
Jp: Ringo ga sakamichi wo KORO KORO korogatteiru.
(りんごがさかみちをころこところがっている)
En: An Apple is rolling down on the down hill.

i.e)
Jp: KORO KORO de huku ni
tuita kami no ke wo totta.
(コロコロでふくについたかみのけをとった)
En: I took off hair on my cloths with a cleaning tape.

Doki doki

Doki doki is onomatopoeia for throbbing heart (when you are very nervous,excited.)

i.e.)
Jp: Tesuto no mae nanode mune ga DOKI DOKI simasu.
(テストのまえなので、むねがどきどきします)
En: My heart is throbbing because the exam starts soon.
